The basics
This program is for all urban residences in Whitehorse in buildings of four or less units.
Place bins at the curb or street edge before 7:00 am on the scheduled collection day for your zone. See below for information on collection schedules.
Material must be sorted properly. Items that are not properly sorted and set out may not be collected. See below for information on proper sorting.
Sorting
Yellow bag is for mixed paper
Acceptable materials include:
Mixed paper
Toilet paper rolls
Boxboard
Corrugated cardboard**
** Must be flat and no larger than 91 cm x 91 cm
prescription paper bags
Shoe boxes
Coffee trays
Egg cartons
Take-out paper bags
Aluminum foil boxes
Take-out food boxes*
Paper cups and bowls*
*If food-soiled, pleasure put in compost cart
Blue Box is for mixed containers
Accepted material include:
Clam shells
Plastic containers, trays and jars
Blister packs
Shampoo and soap bottles
Laundry detergent containers
Plant trays
Jar lids
Aluminum trays
Cookie tins
Milk jugs*
Milk and juice cartons*
Plastic drinking bottles*
Aluminum cans *
Non-beverage cartons
Spray bottles (no butane or paint)
*Return to refundables depot for refund
